About Martini StringsA Short History Martini Strings began in the early 1990's. Originally comprised of three players who had grown up together, the name was chosen with a double-meaning: Martini the drink (of course), and Martini the little-known composer, whose “Gavotte” we were all forced to play to within an inch of our lives!
All students of the same teachers, we spent many teenage Saturday afternoons playing Mozart, Pachelbel, Bach, refreshments, and copious quantities of other chamber music. As we gradually moved on to University study, chamber music became a love rather than a class, and the decision was made to formalise a group to be available to play at various functions. As invariably happens, life moved on and so did various players at various times. One first moved overseas, another married and moved interstate, so the third is left to carry on the legacy. Consequently, Martini Strings is now comprised of a variety of players, who come together in different combinations as the need arises. All players are tertiary-trained on their instrument, with significant performance experience.
